Devkits for PS5 Pro will ship by the end of 2023

A more powerful PlayStation 5 Pro is reportedly in development, with insider Tom Henderson confirming Sony's plans. The console could launch in late 2024, with development kits reaching studios later this year. Additionally, a new version of the standard PS5, featuring an optional external drive, is expected in 2023. However, this model won't be a "Slim" version, just a minor modification of the existing design. For those considering buying a PS5 now, waiting may not be necessary, as the changes will be relatively minimal in terms of size and power consumption.

Apple Pay Later: Pre version launched in the US

Apple has launched a preliminary version of Apple Pay Later for selected users in the U.S., allowing them to split payments into four interest-free installments. Initially available by invitation only, users need an iPhone with iOS 16.4 or an iPad with iPadOS 16.4. Apple Pay Later loans range from $50 to $1,000, with a gentle credit check for each transaction. Installments are managed via Apple Wallet, which also sends reminders when payments are due. The full version of Apple Pay Later is expected to roll out in the coming months.

Hacker Attacks on Crypto Protocols: Nearly $500M in Damage Last Quarter

According to Atlas VPN, hacker attacks in the cryptocurrency sector have been particularly successful recently, with $483 million stolen in Q3 2022 alone. Despite increased regulation and better security practices, such as using hardware wallets, the sector remains vulnerable. Most attacks targeted Ethereum-based protocols, causing $348 million in damage. Polkadot and BNB Chain also suffered significant losses. While the total damage seems large, it affects only a fraction of the $970 billion crypto sector. Chainalysis warns of even more losses, expecting a record month for October with $718 million already reported from hacker attacks.

iPhone 14 Pro chip bigger despite smaller transistors

A preliminary analysis of Apple's A16 silicon chip by Angstronomics reveals small changes in caches and processor cores. The A16's system level cache (SLC) has been reduced to 24 MB from the A15's 32 MB, while the L2 cache for performance cores increased by a third. These adjustments could be linked to the introduction of LPDDR5-6400 memory. Processor cores also feature slight design revisions, appearing larger than their predecessors. Despite smaller transistor size, the A16 packs 16 billion transistors, slightly more than the A15, resulting in improved speed and overall performance.
